The Historian

A Resolute New Year

by Historian on Jan.01, 2009, under Video Games

Here we are again.

Again? I guess that isn’t accurate, since it is a year anew.

At this time of year people make resolutions and for once I did this year too. So this year I resolve to:

  1. Actually use my blog. This being the first step down that path.
  2. Get “out there” more. Typically I’ve been pretty private about what I do, my thoughts on all that and generally hid in the shadow of my company. That changes this year.
  3. Get new glasses. Done actually, will pick them up tomorrow. My prescription has changed, I can tell because I’m getting headaches again after a day’s work.
  4. Get in shape. Note that it isn’t “lose weight”. While I might be a little heavier than I should be, it is more the “getting winded playing soccer with the kids” that I want to improve.
  5. Genuinely give love a chance.
  6. Actually use my MP3 Player. I’ve been on a kind of moratorium of music. By that I mean that I’ve not actively sought out new music in the past year. If it didn’t fall in my lap, I didn’t hear about it.
  7. New Games. This past year I was conservative in my purchases of new games, sticking to a few classic games to add to my collection. This year I shall try to purchase newer games. The “to buy” list so far: Street Fighter IV. Some recent games to pick up: Fallout 3, Fable 2, Gears of War 2
  8. Collecting more classics. At one point I decimated my SNES collection. It is time to rebuild. And I want to continue to build my 2600 collection. If I want to break 200 carts and i think I only need 75 to 80 more to do it. For the Virtualboy I only need Water World and Nester’s Funky Bowling to complete a US collection.
