Most of you know me as the gaming junkie who lives the dream as the Community Manager for Acclaim Games. Yes, that’s right, I get paid to play video games. Ok… only part of the time… The rest of the time I’m interacting with the nearly 10 million registered users of our games. That is where my Peek comes in. With a public email address (community@acclaim.com), I get lots of feedback (I really do read them all) from the players and of course there are times when I’m contacted by my company to communicate things to the players. Peek keeps me connected 24/7 with my mail so I can respond to just about anything within minutes. This week I was able to install a Pronto test build on to my lovely Black Cherry Peek.
They called it "Pronto" because of the 50% speed increases in the OS and I have to say that it is well worth it’s moniker. The improvements to the menu navigation were significant. You can visually see the difference in the response times. The addition of two more email accounts slots, bringing the total to five, will help greatly. I have three email accounts for work alone. This let me have all of them and room for a couple of my personal accounts. The ability to search for emails on the device and a larger font size option were welcome additions. They have also added support for push email and compatibility with Microsoft Exchange, which will be a godsend to a lot of business users. Tack on the ability to view images, PDF and DOC files and you have a really powerful little device.
Existing Peek users (versions 1.04, 1.05, 1.06 and 1.08), will get a free software upgrade to Peek Pronto. The hardware of the retail Pronto has an improved keyboard with a softer push on the keys, but everything else inside is the same. I’ve heard of a few great deals to be had on the devices if you shop around. Keep in mind that the Cherry and Aqua versions are no longer in production, so grab them while you can. The "no contract required" fee is a mere $19.99 a month.
So if you are looking for a great basic email device you can’t go wrong with a Peek.

You know sometimes there is a strange feeling you get.. somewhere between awe and horror. As a avid game collector, this is an awe inspiring project. As someone who likes to think they have some sense of style, I would be horrified to find this in my home.
I wanted to make something to enter into the Craftsman contest that would be challenging for me to make, but really cool and unique to have once it was finished. This was what I came up with.
I have a few basic hand tools and a few small power tools. I started this project doubtful of how I was going to accomplish each step with my relatively small supply of tools, but I came up with some creative ways to use them to get what I wanted. I did have to practice making most of the parts multiple times before I got them the way I wanted them. This was by far the most difficult and time consuming thing I’ve ever made, but I’m very pleased with the result.

Yeah, I know it has been more than a month but listen.. I’ve had a lot going on..
Well on 2Moons we launched the new Bad Moons Rising Build. There were a few kinks to work out, but it is all starting to come together.
To really kick off the launch we have contests going on all over the place. On our forums, at MMOSite and on MMORPG.
It’s free to play so I encourage you to download and get started today. A lot of new features have been added to make it easier for new players to jump in and really get started quickly.
I haven’t been to the poker room in a while. I was waiting for them to open the new room at the Orange Park Kennel Club. It is a little closer and I expect that will all the advertising it should be filled with new players. I will be on a Poker diet of fish and chips.
Sprint and Samsung have teamed up to bring the Instinct out. I’ve always been a fan of Samsung. My current phone, past phone, my mp3 player, my camcorder… you get the idea. I love my T-mobile service, I’ve never had a problem with it and the service has always been great, but this phone has me looking Sprint’s way.. and with the new $99 unlimited everything it might be hard to resist. And since the evdo card in my laptop is with Sprint already, it would help consolidate my bills.
I’ve got bingo duty this weekend.. I’ll let you know if anything interesting happens..
