I’ve been brushing up on poker again recently for a few reasons, but mostly because I stopped playing for awhile. With the holidays and so many new games to build communities on I just haven’t had time to go play live and little interest in playing on my 360. I had uninstalled PokerStars (where I prefer to play) to make room for a massive beta client, so I re-installed it yesterday.
I played for a little while and I can honestly say I need to get my head around it all again. I played well at first, but lost my patience and played poorly. It was all “funny money” so no real harm done.

Yeah, I know it has been more than a month but listen.. I’ve had a lot going on..
Well on 2Moons we launched the new Bad Moons Rising Build. There were a few kinks to work out, but it is all starting to come together.
To really kick off the launch we have contests going on all over the place. On our forums, at MMOSite and on MMORPG.
It’s free to play so I encourage you to download and get started today. A lot of new features have been added to make it easier for new players to jump in and really get started quickly.
I haven’t been to the poker room in a while. I was waiting for them to open the new room at the Orange Park Kennel Club. It is a little closer and I expect that will all the advertising it should be filled with new players. I will be on a Poker diet of fish and chips.
Sprint and Samsung have teamed up to bring the Instinct out. I’ve always been a fan of Samsung. My current phone, past phone, my mp3 player, my camcorder… you get the idea. I love my T-mobile service, I’ve never had a problem with it and the service has always been great, but this phone has me looking Sprint’s way.. and with the new $99 unlimited everything it might be hard to resist. And since the evdo card in my laptop is with Sprint already, it would help consolidate my bills.
I’ve got bingo duty this weekend.. I’ll let you know if anything interesting happens..

Tonight I went to the poker room for the first time. I’d played online (You can catch me on the 360 playing WSOP) and in the occasional cash game with friends, but had never ventured in to true poker room. And honestly it has been almost a year since I’ve played face to face with people.
I have to admit at first it is pretty intimidating. There were easily more than 100 people there and many types of poker to play. I had thought of getting in to an Omaha game (I’m good at it but it isn’t my favorite) but instead opted for a Hold’em $1/$2. I started with a $40 bank, with the goal of doubling up.
I’m rusty at live play and the first few monster hands had my heart racing and the adrenalin pumping. Feeling this come on I knew I had to get control and play slow. That helped… As I relaxed, I got a feel for the live game again and everything started to gel.
Perhaps the best hand of the night saw me with pocket 3s and an 8, 6, 2 flop. Everyone was playing for the high card and we saw 5 people betting and staying in for the turn. Burn and turn brought a 3. There I sat with trip 3s I bet heavy and scared off all but two, one called and one raised. I thought: “What the hell does he have?”, but figured I had him and called the raise and it was matched by the third. The river brought a Jack, didn’t matter to me, I was on easy street. First player calls, second raises, I raise that and everyone calls.
The first player scored a pair with the river bringing jacks in, our happy raiser flips a pair of dueces and feels really damn good to have flopped trips…
And then I lay down my 3s…
I did better than I had hoped, walking out with $118 for a 2 hours play. All in all, a good night.
